Statement
I have chosen to respond to Whiteout in the environmental
sense and draw on many field trips to Lake Eyre, Victoria
and South Australia where the crystallized white salt lakes
are encroaching on what was productive land.
For me, Whiteout is a physical manifestation of colonisation
and environmental change, with the enormous parallel to
the social whiteout of the aboriginal nations, bleached
through colonization.
My paintings are not obviously political; however technically,
I have worked with opposing forces to create textures of
flow, upheaval and envelopment
